Earth Charter Festival
The Earth Charter Festival is a high school-based organization dedicated towards promoting and educating the public on social and environmental issues. As part of the globally-recognised Earth Charter Initiative, the group strives to integrate a sense of global ethics, including how to examine our values and how to commit to a sustainable way of life that can inspire cooperation and positive change.

The club is noted for adopting a flattened hierarchy, which breaks away from the common bureaucratic structure of high school-clubs, which typically involves a sophisticated hierarchy. When the club underwent the renovation in 2004, the flattened hierarchy was adopted not only to increase productivity, but also to echo the mission of the club. It was understood that to foster a creative and healthy working environment, one that would be especially attractive to students, a different approach would have to be taken.
The flattened hierarchy involved equalizing the chain of command among the leaders, as well as between the leaders and the general volunteers. This made the group of leaders (which was never termed an "executive branch" or anything of the sort, like most clubs) appear more accessible and less of an exclusive group.

As part of the expanding mission, a new component was added to the festivities. The Fair Trade Bazaar was a "classic city-square" inspired idea, whereby local merchants of fair trade goods were invited to the event to set up a stand and sell their products.
raises funds to help sustain healthy communities and habits both locally and globally and promote dialogue, transparency and respect for greater equity in local and international trade and relations.
